Karioi Canyoning

Explore an ancient volcanic landscape on a guided canyoning adventure beneath Mt Karioi. Follow a lava-formed creek through lush native bush, scrambling over volcanic boulders, climbing natural obstacles and abseiling alongside flowing waterfalls.

Suit up in our warm 5mm wetsuits and jackets before stepping into the creek and making your way through this spectacular natural playground. Rain or shine, you’ll get wet, get moving and discover a wild side of Raglan that few get to experience.

Along the way, your experienced guide will share insights into the area’s geology, ecology and cultural history, bringing the landscape to life. Keep an eye out for native birdlife, including tūī and pīwakawaka, as you explore this ever-changing environment.

Karioi Canyon offers an exciting adventure for families, first-time canyoners and experienced adventurers alike. No previous canyoning experience is needed, but a moderate level of fitness and a sense of adventure are essential as you scramble, climb and abseil your way through the canyon.
